At D-DAY WINGS MUSEUM, you will be able to discover the D-Day planes, the missions and the airmen who contributed to thier mastery of the skies of June 1944. It is a historic site for two reasons: it is located within the former Luftwaffe hangars at the Carpiquet airbase that served as an attack base during the Battle of Britain in 1940-41 and, although one of the D-Day targets, it was only liberated by the Canadians in July 1944 during a vast battle against the 12th Panzer SS Division: operation Windsor.
