June 6th 1944, marked the start of the greatest seaborne invasion in history. when
It resulted in the historic DDay Landings on the Normandy Coast in France, followed by the the Battle for Normandy and
marked the beginning the liberation of Europe.
Each year, thousands of people travel to Normandy to commemorate the historic events of 1944 and
as a legacy of our 2024 Normandy Experience, we maintain this MVTDDAY website, to provide useful information and support for anyone wishing to visit the DDay Landing Beaches and further inland,
whether you are a regular visitor or new to Normandy, especially if you are taking a historic vehicle.
The 5th and 10th year anniversaries of D-Day are marked by the largest range of commemorations, but every year, there are scores of services and events that are attended by visitors from all over the world.
With fewer and fewer surviving WW2 Veterans, it is more important than ever for us to keep our "mechanical veterans" alive to ensure the sacrifice and contribution of the "greatest generation" who began the liberation of Europe is never forgotten and is remembered, not just every 5 years when the larger "Liberation Festivals" happen but every day and year.
