Welcome to our D-Day website - for our main MVT website click below
June 6th 1944, marked the start of the greatest seaborne invasion in history.
It resulted in the historic DDay Landings on the French coast, the Battle for Normandy and the beginning the liberation of Europe.
In June 2024, milions of people gathered together in Normandy to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
A record number of MVT members attended the commemorations; over 1000 people and an impressive range of over 350 vehicles including motorcycles, staff cars, jeeps, command cars, ambulances, trucks, tracked vehicles and armour were there, attending a wide range of commemorations, including large national events such as the parades at Bayeux and Arromanches There were also scores of smaller gatherings, commemorations and acts of remembrance during the week which our members attended and we were invited by numerous museums and organisations to provide vehicles for their events. The MVT put together a comprehensive package of support to help our members get the most out of their visit, whether they were new to Normandy or seasoned travellers.
But our work does not end now that the 80th Anniversary has passed. With fewer and fewer surviving WW2 Veterans, it is more important than ever for us to keep our "mechanical veterans" alive to ensure the sacrifice and contribution of the "greatest generation" who began the liberation of Europe is never forgotten and is remembered, not just every 5 years when the larger "Liberation Festivals" happen but every day and year.
As a legacy of our 2024 Normandy Experience, we have created this MVTDDAY website, which we hope will provide useful information and support for anyone wishing to visit the DDay Landing Beaches and further inland
where the battle of Normandy raged for a further 3 months.
We have also been able to add to our MVT member benefits, permanent discounts on Brittany Ferries, and PPLI cover in Europe, making it easier, cheaper and safer to make your own trips to Normandy.
